Every Path Laid Open: A History of Concord and Its People

Join Curt DiCamillo and local experts for a special day in historic Concord, Massachusetts—a town famous for the independent spirit of its people. Our visit will include The Women of Concord walking tour, uncovering the stories of the town's remarkable women who fought for justice and created a uniquely American vision in literature and art; bringing us to the places where they left their mark. There will be free time for lunch in Concord Center followed by a guided tour of highlights from the Concord Museum’s sixteen newly redesigned and interactive galleries, featuring artifacts from writers Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Louisa May Alcott. We’ll also experience April 19, 1775—the day the “shot heard round the world” began the American Revolution. We will also view Every Path Laid Open: Women of Concord and the Quest for Equality, an exhibit displaying rare artifacts from the collection that detail the story of Concord's women of that past. Don't miss this special opportunity to explore Concord's history, the stories of its people, and its legacy. NOTE: There will be moderate walking during the visit.

Land records are an important, but sometimes overlooked resource for many family historians. Hidden in the “metes and bounds” and other legalese, there can be critical clues to identifying extended family members, the location of ancestral homelands, and family relationships. Join Lindsay Fulton, the New England Historic Genealogical Society’s Vice President of Research and Library Services, to learn how you can locate, read, and apply the information contained in land records to your own family history.
